Director of Student Services

Dr. Marcy Hunt-Harris is Director of Student Support Services.  She is in her 21st year as an educator.  Her career began as a 4th grade teacher at Hubbard Elementary School.  During her tenure of service, she has served as a school counselor at Hubbard Elementary, T.G. Scott Elementary and Mary Persons High School, assistant principal at T.G. Scott and K. B. Sutton Elementary Schools and principal of Monroe County Achievement Center and Hubbard Elementary Schools prior to her current position.

Dr. Hunt-Harris earned both an Educational Specialist  and Doctoral Degree of  Educational Leadership from Nova Southeastern University.  From Fort Valley State University, she earned a Master of Science Degree in Guidance and Counseling and Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Middle Grades Education. She is a board member for FootHills Charter High School and the Georgia Association of Alternative Educators.

One of the most precious gifts in life is opportunity. Dr. Hunt- Harris shared that  in her years of service, each role was a precious opportunity to serve others, learn with/from others, while growing professionally and personally. Those stances proved to be critical preparation regarding future work that she would undertake. Currently, Dr. Hunt- Harris provides support across the school system in areas that include:  Early Intervention Programs (EIP), Remedial Education Programs (REP), English to Speaker of Other Languages (ESOL), Title III, School Counselors, Homeless Education Programs, Hospital/Homebound Support, Student Tribunals, Student Attendance Council, School Councils, MCS Policy Updates,and REACH Scholars.

As a proud graduate of Mary Persons High School,  Dr. Hunt-Harris has dedicated her efforts towards supporting children and families of Monroe County. “My experience as a student in Monroe County Schools helped me become who I am know. My goal help extend a similar educational experience to current students and families.  She is the wife of Reginald Harris and proud mother of two growing young men, Lawson and Anderson.  Dr. Hunt-Harris enjoys spending time with her family, reading and participating in organized run events.
